The space
The accommodation is beautifully designed. It comprises a double master raised bed. The sofa converts in to a double bed and an extra single mattress can be provided so a maximum of 5 people can stay on board. The boat is perfect for a romantic getaway for two, or would be great for a family looking for an alternative, fun holiday. The living area comprises a lounge seating area, and an office space with wifi and desk. There is a stainless steel kitchen, with a Smeg gas oven and hob, a good size fridge with freezer compartment, a sink and draining board, cupboards and shelves housing all the usual kitchen equipment. The bathroom has a walk in wet room with modern exposed pipe work . The WC is a compost toilet which would usually have to be emptied by the host every 3- 5 days. Water is held in a tank on-board and needs topping up once a week (depending on your usage). This will be done by your host. In the winter months heating is by the solid fuel stove which burns a combination of smokeless coal and logs which are provided. The stove can be controlled and kept going 24 hours but you need to allow for this in your daily routine....ie loading stove before going out and a little attention on your return. It keeps the boat warm and cosy. There is also a gas central heating system which heats the radiators and hot water. The boat is on mains shore line so there are two oil filled heaters provided as well so you will always be warm. Living on board is not quite like a conventional house and needs an understanding and patience- it may therefore not be for everyone. As an example the engine needs to be run for one hour a day to heat the water and power batteries. Guest access is from the stern into the lounge.
