CONDITIONS OF HIRE :
In these conditions of hire "the Company" means Bath Narrowboats Ltd "the Hirer" means the person or persons named on the booking confirmation.
No boats must pass through locks.
No more than SIX people to be on-board Avon and TEN people aboard KENNET , HERON , SWIFT, PAMELA , LADY VICTORIA at any time.
The Company will not let the boat to any person under the age of 25 years
The Company will let more than one boat to a single party but may ask for an additional deposit.
The boat is booked/reserved when we receive a 50% deposit of the boat hire price. In the event of a cancellation the booking fee is not refundable but the boat can be rebooked for another date.
No show on the day will result in loss of all monies paid.
If you wish to re-schedule or cancel your trip, please advise us as soon as possible. If we can re-let the day booked there will be no additional charge. If we are unable to re-let the date we reserve the right to charge you the full amount of the charter.
No refund will be give in the case of cancellation of any booking within 14 days of the hire period. However, the booking may be rescheduled at the Company’s discretion, subject to availability.
Should the hire be cancelled by the Company for any reason, the Company will refund any payments made, but shall not otherwise be liable and the contract be discharged.
We reserve the right to alter prices without notice. Once a booking has been acknowledged the price charged will remain as quoted at the time of booking except for alterations in the rate of any applicable tax introduced either as a substitute or addition and major increases in fuel costs. Hire prices quoted include VAT at the applicable rate.
In the event of a price rise caused by events beyond the company’s control the hirer shall be informed in writing and the hirer shall pay any additional monies due.
Prices quoted are in £ sterling and payment shall only be accepted in that currency.
BALANCE OF HIRE FEE
The balance is due for payment by cash, cheque or selected cards before the boat will be handed over to the hirer.
Full day - Between 9.30am - 5.00 pm
Half Day - Between 9.30am - 1.00pm or 1.30pm - 5.00pm
Every effort will be made to have boats available for take-over by 9.30am or 1.30om on the day of hire. If this is not possible due to circumstances beyond the company’s control we reserve the right to alter or curtail the period of hire.
We reserve the right to refuse a booking without reason and recover hired boats from unsuitable hirers.
In the event of any repairs being necessary during the cruise the hirer must contact the company and under no circumstances should repairs be authorised without the company’s prior written consent.
During the first 30 minutes of the hire period the Hirer will receive instruction on boat operations and canal safety. The hiring party, as a group, will be expected to take part in our full training session.
We reserve the right to refuse to hand over the boat to anyone who we consider is not suitable to take charge
RETURN OF THE BOAT
The boat must be returned in a clean condition to the base (Sydney Wharf unless otherwise agreed) at the appointed time.
Late return will be charged at the company's additional hourly rate of £100 per hour (or part).
The Company cannot be held responsible for delays and non fulfilment of hires caused by unforeseen defects, breakdown, obstruction, or repair to either the boat or the waterway system. We can make no financial adjustments in these circumstances.
The hirer is responsible for the boat and its safe navigation. In the event of an accident you must notify us at once with the name and address of any witness. IN NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST ANYONE ADMIT LIABILITY.
INJURY OR DAMAGE
The Company is not liable for death or personal injury or loss and damage to your property including cars parked at the marina or that of any passengers unless caused by wilful negligence of the company.
The company insures the boat, its equipment and inventory against public liability risks. The Company’s insurance does not cover personal accidents or loss or damage to personal effects so hirers and crew are advised to take out their own personal insurance cover.
The Company reserve the right to refuse hand over of the boat to any person for any reason.
All people must stay within the profile of the boat. Take care when getting on and off the boat. Don't walk on the side or roof of the boat unless absolutely necessary.
Pass other boats on the starboard (right hand side). Keep your speed right down whilst passing moored boats.
Do not make a breaking wash. Take note of any mooring restrictions signposted if you wish to moor.
Lock the boat if you moor and leave unattended. Make sure boat inventory is left as you found it.
Put mooring pins and hammer back in locker (it's easy to leave them behind).
Have respect for other canal users. Portable gas appliances are not allowed on the boat.
Charcoal Barbecues must only be used away from the boat.

Failure to take the boat will result in the forfeit of your payment.
The day boat will be available for you to embark from 9:30.
The boat must be returned to our base by 5:00 pm or sunset, whichever is earlier.
Portable gas appliances are NOT allowed under any circumstances. Charcoal barbecues must only be used off the boat. They must be thoroughly emptied and cooled before re-embarkation.
No live bait or maggots are allowed on board.
Your security and damage deposit of £50 payable in cash on the day will be returned to you at the end of your hire period providing you return on time, there is no damage to the boat, no losses or breakages of the boat's equipment and the boat is returned in a clean and tidy condition.
You understand that it is an offence to operate the boat whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The pricipal hirer must be over 25 years of age.
Dogs & Pets are welcome and are charged at £ 25 per short break and £ 35 per week ( Maximum 2 per boat )
The day boat is booked when we receive your completed booking form with the booking deposit In the event of a cancellation the booking fee is not refundable.

RETURN OF THE DAYBOAT
The day boat must be returned in a clean condition to the base at the appointed time. We reserve the right to retain the damage deposit if the boat is returned late or dirty.
A current valid credit card ( no debit cards accepted ) will be needed on the day of hire.
A damage deposit of £250 will be pre-authorised on a credit card when you hire the boat. It will be returned to you provided the dayboat is returned clean and on time without a third party claim against you.
All single sex parties will have to lodge a £ 500 security deposit by cash or credit card at the time of check in ( refundable when the boat is returned clean & undamaged ). Please be aware that we reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee of £ 50 if the boat is returned in an unhireable state, a charge for damage to the boat, missing inventory or the boat is returned later than the agreed hire period. Where damage occurs to a third party boat, we will endeavour to obtain an estimate for repairs and where possible use our facilities to repair the damage to keep costs down.

1. We reserve the right to refuse to hand over the day boat to any person who in our opinion is not suitable to take charge of it.
1. Duration of hire is between the hours of 9.30am and 6.00pm, 9.30am and 1.30pm or 2.30pm and 6.00pm. Late return of the boat will be charged at £100 per hour or part thereof.
2. No more than 10 persons may be carried. Failure to comply will result in confiscation of the boat.
3. The steerer and anyone operating locks must be below the legal alcohol limit for driving
4. Passengers must not sit on the roof or be on the side decks as these practices are dangerous.
5. The hirer must be at least 25 years of age. We reserve the right not to hand over the boat to anyone who in our judgement appears not to be suitable to take charge of it. All monies paid will be refunded and the hirer shall have no further claim.
6. A damage deposit of £250 is payable on arrival. It will be returned provided there is no loss or damage and the boat is returned on time. All breakdowns must be reported by telephone to Bath Narrowboats, Sydney Wharf and any damage to the boat or contents reported on your return.
7. Bath Narrowboats cannot be held responsible for delays or non availability of the craft caused by breakdowns, unforeseen defects, obstructions or restriction of cruising area by British Waterways. In the event of complete non availability all monies will be refunded and the hirer shall have no further claim.
8. The hirer is in complete charge of the craft and is responsible for its safe navigation. In the event of an accident, the hirer shall notify Bath Narrowboats immediately and obtain names and addresses of any witnesses. Under no circumstances should anyone admit any liability.
9. Free car parking is provided for the convenience of hirers, but Bath Narrowboats accepts no liability for loss or damage to customers’ vehicles or their contents.
10. Repairs are our responsibility and should not be put in the hands of others without our authority.
